On this route we are waiting for the mighty mountains, beautiful gorges and the sun.
The monastery is a fortress, the monastery is an outpost, located only 40 kilometers from Yerevan and less than a kilometer from the border of the republic.
I will tell you about khachkars and how Christianity came to Armenia.
It offers stunning views of Mount Ararat. The first stop will be the Khor Virap Monastery, the cradle of the birth of Christianity in Armenia.
Having seen enough of Masis (as the Armenians call Mount Ararat), we will continue our journey.
We will pass by a small village where a stork nest is twisted above each house. From early spring to early fall, you can get close to admire this clean and moving landscape.
Then we will pass by the wine village, where the autochthonous grape varieties Areni and Voskeat grow. You can taste different types of wines: homemade wine of local residents, young sparkling wine in season, and wines in a small tasting room where wines from all over Armenia are stored in the cellars.
You will visit Areni-1 Cave, where a local ranger will tell you about interesting artifacts found during excavations.
The next stop will be the Noravank Temple, surrounded by red rocks.
You will hear the legend about how and by whom it was built, about the symbolism of the stairs and much more …
Noravank is one of the most atmospheric places in Armenia, inspiring with its beauty and energy.
You involuntarily think about how serene and peaceful it is here.
